Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Active EMT certification and license (required).
• Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required).
• Current valid Florida driver's license.
• Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record for the past 3 years.
• CPR/First Aid, PASS, Defensive Driving, FWA, HIPAA, and DOT Physical (can be obtained prior to start date if not already held).
• Prior patient care and/or non-emergency transport driving experience strongly preferred.
• Prior experience training, coaching, or mentoring others preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Qualified and credentialed to administer O2.

Job Description

• Serve as the lead trainer for all new drivers, delivering hands-on and classroom-style instruction on safe driving practices, wheelchair and stretcher securement, patient handling, and customer service standards.
• Ride along with new and current drivers to observe, coach, and evaluate performance in real-world conditions.
• Conduct regular audits of drivers for adherence to best practices, safety protocols, and company policy; document findings and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify gaps or outdated content in existing training materials and guidelines; recommend and help implement updates to keep training current with industry standards and regulations.
• Train drivers on properly loading, unloading, sliding, and assisting riders (200 lbs or more) on and off wheelchairs or stretchers, including proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
• Reinforce best practices for entering rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, hospice centers, and home residences to safely assist riders.
• Model and teach professional, friendly, and patient-centered service, including working respectfully with riders who have service animals.
• Train and audit proper procedures for administering O2 when credentialed and required.
• Ensure trainees understand vehicle and equipment cleanliness/sanitation standards, maintenance reporting procedures, and daily vehicle checks (fluids, fueling, etc.).
• Support scheduling flexibility among trainees, helping them understand and adapt to variable shift lengths (8–12 hours) and start times (as early as 3:30 AM depending on trip demand).
• Uphold and reinforce Stellar Transport's expectation that all drivers remain punctual, safe, friendly, and professional at all times.
• Provide ongoing refresher training and coaching for current drivers as needed, based on audit results or policy changes.

Physical Requirements

• Bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, twisting, squatting, and lifting as needed to demonstrate and evaluate proper rider transfer techniques.
• Ability to safely demonstrate loading/unloading of riders weighing 200 lbs or more.
